New Game Brainstorming

Hey everyone, I was thinking about making a game. A platformer to be exact, based on EarthBound and the world of EarthBound. I was surprised to see that no one has done this, so I began brainstorming something like a Super Mario Bros. 2 idea with EarthBound Characters, Enemies, Cities, etc.

I personally think that it would be great. I mean can you imagine running through Threed as Ness killing zombies with a yo-yo? Or freezing those Starmen in Stonehenge with PSI Freeze as Paula?
Jeff would be armed with a gun to shoot enemies, and Poo, I guess I would need to work in a hand combat to be used with him.

Just a thought, but if anyone knows some kind of software which would be able to do something like this, let me know. I already have a trial of Game Maker 7, but I need to figure it out. So i guess if anyone has some hints for that too, it would be a great help.

1/128 Proofs : COMPLETE!!!!

Here I will show EVERY 1/128 proof. I got them all, and because of it cruised through the game, with nothing but bashing, which helped my No PSI challenge.

That is EVERY ONE! they may be a bit out of order as far as the picture order goes, but they were gotten every day during each GPP. I am fully up to date now. And I guess this Blog will have to shift gears and take on another purpose until next EBFGP Summer. I leave this challenge, asking everyone to go and have a absolutely Funktastic Summer.

July 11 - July 15

Sorry for the little updating lately, work has been nuts.

Anyway, Ill get all my things together and show them here, up to the point of the game completion.

July 11 - Deep Darkness

• No bottle rockets of any sort! - Complete
  
• Fight a Master Criminal Worm with Dungeon Man in your party. - Complete
  
• Get all the Magic Truffles. Have Jeff eat them. - Complete
  
• Store your Franklin Badge with Escargo Express. Any excuse to see that guy submerged in the swamp! - Incomplete
• (1/128)Manly Fish's Brothers sometimes drop Horns of Life. If you can win one, you're an unstoppable EarthBound machine! - COMPLETE (This was SOOOOO hard)

July 12 - Stonehenge

• Again, no bottle rockets! NOoooo bottle rockets! - Complete (Never used any the entire game)
  
• Get three people diamondized. - Complete
  
• Only use PSI Thunder against Starman DX. - Incomplete (No PSI)
  
• Get the Sword of Kings. Give it to Escargo Express. - Incomplete (Got it but never gave it to Escargo Express)
  
• Don't go over Level 60 looking for the sword. Reset your game instead. You want that offense boost to be meaningful, right? - Definently Incomplete (I was at level 99 when i got here because of 1/128 grinding)
• Use the Casey Bat during the entire GPP, except when you're looking for the sword. Then you should leave Ness unequipped. - Complete

• Fight Ego Orbs until you get a Skip Sandwich DX. Then slap your forehead as you realize that it was the Uncontrollable Sphere that dropped the Broken Antenna and you were foiled yet again by the Player's Guide. - Complete (But I tried it)

July 14 - Magicant

• Equip the Baseball Cap that you give yourself, and keep it equipped until the end of the game. - Complete

July 15 - The Cave Of The Past

• Enter the Phase Distorter with as few items as possible. - Complete (Only had equips)
  
• Beat 10 Ghosts of Starman without using any shields or bottle rockets. - Complete
  
• Fight 10 Bionic Krakens. - Complete
  
• Beat Giygas at Level 60 or under. - Incomplete.........all were at lv 99
  
• Beat Giygas with only Paula alive. - Incomplete
  
• Remember the Shattered Man you were supposed to avoid in the Summers museum? Go back and fight him after you've beaten Giygas. Don't lose, though, or the game will freeze! - Incomplete (I accidentally beat them both earlier)
  
• And, as always, the final challenge:

With that, EBFGP Summer is complete, I have finished my 1/128 challenge, and my No PSI challenge. I will create a seperate post with all 1/128 proofs in it, so this one is not too big.

July 9 - Scaraba

Today was also relatively quick for a GPP. I made my way through the tomb, got everything for the challenges, and only never complete one challenge, because I wanted to save the experience so i can maybe get the big boost from Magicant (which is highly doubtful at the moment).

Anyway, heres the challenges:

• Fight 10 Master Criminal Worms. Without green swirls. Hah, you thought we'd make it easy? - Incomplete (Like I said, im hoping to not be at level 99 so I can get the big boost from magicant)
  
• Don't use PSI to cure any ailments. - Complete
  
• Collect EVERY item in the pyramid. - Complete
  
• Don't let anyone get killed. - Complete
  
• Give Poo all your best items. - Complete
  
• Win a Kraken Soup from a Beautiful UFO. - Complete
  
• Find Pokey's dung. Say, "Hey, Poo! It's your brother!" - Complete

They were actually very easy to do so I did get most done, and I would have gotten the other done if I wasnt looking for that boost later on.....maybe later if I get the chance.

Anyway, thats all.

July 8 - Pink Cloud Kraken

Hey everyone, I got this GPP done very, very quickly today so there really is not much to say.
The fact that there was only 4 small challenges also made it even quicker. Here they are:

• No PSI, bottle rockets, or bombs against the Kraken. Bash and Pray only! - Complete
  
• Throw the Pair of Dirty Socks at the Kraken. That way it won't seem so silly that the captain threw his slippers at the beast. - Complete (I was lucky to still have the dirty socks, as I was considering throwing them away earlier, but decided not to)
  
• Get all the Pink Cloud items before you face the boss. - Complete (Bracer of Kings, Rock Candy, Sudden Guts Pill)
  
• Defeat Thunder and Storm with only PSI Thunder. Put the Franklin Badge in storage beforehand so it's just your Thunder, too. - Incomplete (No PSI, however I did not use the Franklin Badge to make it a bit harder)

I am actually realizing just how hard this No PSI challenge is making the game. The only thing I am allowing myself to use it for at any time is PSI Teleport, and only when 100% necessary in order to get to or get out of an area (Like to get to Dalaam).

The worst part is that I have all of the PSI abilities because of my 1/128 challenge, which makes using them so tempting, but I still have refrained from using them.

Speaking of which, my current levels after all this 1/128 business are:
Ness(Elem): 79
Paula(Jacky): 65
Jeff(Braz): 73
Poo(Ching): 44 (he is a little low at the moment because I havent done any 1/128 grinding with him yet)

Anyway, thats about all for this, and I need my sleep.

July 7 - Poo to Mu to Magnet

Today was a pretty quick GPP. Challenges weren't too hard, with the exception of the shattered man challenge, which I accidentally screwed up because they both ran for me...guess i wont be able to do the later challenge for it.

Anyway here are the challenges for today:

• Avoid at least one Shattered Man in the Summers Museum. This leads to a future challenge. - Incomplete as I said they both ran for me first thing.
  
• If Venus kisses you, kiss the screen back. (Might wanna apply a Swiffer first, though.) - Complete (.....lol........)
  
• Don't use Paralysis in the sewers. - Complete (No PSI)
  
• Defeat the Plague Rat of Doom with PSI Flash. - Incomplete (No PSI)
  
• Fix every broken item in the sewer before you fight the boss. - Incomplete (for some reason, though Jeff has enough IQ, he wont fix anything)
  
• Get the Carrot Key, but not the Magnet Hill melody. - Complete ( Got the key before getting the Melody, so I guess its only half complete in reality)

Anyway, as you can see, there was not a whole lot I could do for the challenges in this one as 2 of them included PSI which I am not allowed to use unless 100% needed (only one situation as of yet, and that was to get out of summers, because there is no other way out as of this GPP). No other PSI has been used with the exception of that one time using PSI teleport.

Anyway, I better go try to get some more stuff done, like get Poo leveled up to the others..... :P

July 6 - Rainy Circle

Alright! Today was actually easy, all of the challenges included. I was finished them all in under a half hour, which is very quick considering there was a 1/128 item in the challenges.

Here they are:

• Have Shrooom! "mashroomize" your whole party. - Complete
  
• Buy all the new equipment in Summers. Fight enemies on the beach until you have enough money. - Complete (Easy, the 1/128 challenge means I have lots of money. Over $500,000 to be exact)
  
• Buy every item at the restaurant. Be sure to read all the Help descriptions. - Complete
  
• Fight Tough Guys on the beach until you get a Chick from one. (Success at this challenge entitles you to call yourself "The Ladies' Choice.") - Complete

I should probably show proof for that last one So here it is:

• Spend 10 nights at the hotel. Giygas can wait. - Complete
  
• Memorize the "Didactically speaking" line.
  Then say it to someone today. - Complete (video posted on the blog page)
• (1/128)Mighty Bear Sevens drop Super Plush Bears. Win one! - Complete
  
• (1/128)Mad Taxis drop Xterminator Sprays. Win one if you didn't already in Fourside! - Already Complete from previous challenge.

And now that the proof for that is up, I am finished this post! Im gonna try to get some more youtube videos up for the EBFGPS, which by rights I should have been doing all along. Oh well, thats it. Later!
